I left the inspection cover off the crankcase and when it started to toss oil on the water tank I was going to drop it back on.....I had the cover over the hole and was watching that 300 pounds of crankshaft turn and decided to just let the oil fly......not worth busting a hand setting it back on.
I had it running for 40 minutes and yes, you really need to keep your body parts in check!

That's a great big "Oh, H*** NO!" No reason to get body parts anywhere near that moving machinery. Count your fingers frequently, and make sure you still get to 10.towtruck wrote: ↑January 17th, 2021, 10:47 amI left the inspection cover off the crankcase and when it started to toss oil on the water tank I was going to drop it back on.....I had the cover over the hole and was watching that 300 pounds of crankshaft turn and decided to just let the oil fly......not worth busting a hand setting it back on.

Re: What did I get myself into?!!!!!!!
Three months and 225 hours I have the Titan almost done. I rebuilt everything mechanical on the tractor. Pistons cut and new rings, rebuilt the magneto, fuel pump, oiler, front axle, steering, new fuel lines, new water tank, new fuel tank, worked over the clutch, hand built a complete brake system from just pictures, valve job on the head, all grease cups repaired, wheels repaired, oil lines repaired, and I duplicated the patina an made the tractor look like I never touched it.
I've been driving it around and about all that needs done is to add wheel bands on the rear wheels so it won't eat asphalt. The toughest part was duplicating all the old crappy graphics and making it look old. I even made fake rust trails on the water tank.

I'll tip my hat to you. That's really impressive.
Would it be too much to ask for video of it running & moving?

So cool. Were the rear wheels always set up like that for running in the fields?

Yes, the cleats were an option for traction and a little stability. It is still not running right.... I need to pull the fuel mixer back off and recheck all the passages and the magneto still needs more work.

I can hear what you mean about not running quite right. When you hit the sweet spot, it'll just sing. This is still music to my gears.

Re: What did I get myself into?!!!!!!!
I found the issue with the "miss". I had a little crud in the bottom of the pick up passage for the main fuel needle. When I first fired the tractor up it only needed a 1/4 turn to run....then each time I started it it went more and more until i was at 1/2 turn. Now I'm back to 1/4 turn and no more skipping a beat.
There is 16 feet of fuel lines on this thing. The pick up side was 75% brass and 25% steel lines. I was able to clean out the brass lines and salvage the one steel line. The return fuel lines were rusted shut and I remade those out of copper from end to end. I also made a new fuel tank. The only two places that could have had that rust and junk was the 2' of steel line at the tank and the cast fuel bowl itself. There is an inline fuel filter screen that is missing the screen. I am going to have to remake that filter screen.
