Chimney size
Building a cinderbrick smoker. Smoker calculator says if I go with 8 inch chimney height needs to be 33 inches. If I go with 6 inch chimney height should be 54 inches. Is there an advantage or disadvantage with going with the 8 inch over 6 inch?

Re: Chimney size
No. It is based off of volume in the chimney so as long as that is correct, the diameter is irrelevant.

Re: Chimney size
Most guys like the chimney above head height to keep the smoke out of the face depending on wind direction. Not sure what the finished height of the 8" pipe would be set at. Stack Volume is what is important

Re: Chimney size
If you're building a vertical smoker the calculator isn't designed for that style smoker. A vertical only needs an opening on the top because the cook chamber acts as a chimney.
Measure Twice.....Cut Three Times.
