Kamado pellet popper. Anyone seen one? Tips?

Post by pr0wlunwoof » May 3rd, 2020, 9:18 am

So I have a pellet hopper and a kamado with a cracked lid. The kamado is a vision S which has the pro-zone. I think I can cut the prozone area enough to fit the pellet hopper in. Any ideas or suggestions? I've never cut porcelan but it seems I can probably go at it with diamond tips etc. This is a picture of the warranty replacement to give reference.Image

Porcelain is just a finish on steel/cast, right? In my experience, you will most likely chip/crack the porcelain but cutting the metal should be straightforward. Diamond or abrasive angle grinder would be my tool of choice.

Definitely use eye and ear protection and it could chip out.

I guess technically its the ceramic I have to cut through. I was thinking a masonry saw blade for the reciprocating saw. The metal part comes out with a few screws.

stick a magnet on it and verify that there is no steel under the ceramic.

Ceramic is brittle. Diamond tip tile disk might do it. Go slow.....
