just checking back in. Beyond all belief this frankenstien is hammering right along without skipping a beat. There is no stopping it so far. I can control steady temps from 175-450 really easy. I have cooked 3 small whole hogs at once and everything else imaginable under the sun. A few follow up issues for the next one is better fitted (look better) skins, a better way to clean the ash out of bottom, a removeable baffle plate to ease cleaning, Make hopper waterproof as I have had 2 plug ups from moisture running into auger tube and setting up (better pellets may help). Anyway just checking in and letting you guys know. I am looking for another project that why I am here looking. Happy new Year
Thanks!!! The cook chamber is 32" wide x 24" deep x 42" tall with 5 racks. Its a little big for a couple butts and a flat of beans but it doesn't use anymore pellets than when it was on the thin Traeger cooker, which I guess would be a benefit of the insulation. I don't take many pics of food as mine never looks as good as anyone else's but I assure you its fittin to eat. lol I think that's what I want to try to build next is a little smaller one.
