I don't know much about pellet burners but the factory units I've looked at were all about 36'' long so I'm not sure if 1 pellet burner will heat a horizontal tank that size. I'm sure someone with more knowledge about pellet burners will come along and help you out soon.
1 burner would be iffy. I have seen several builds where they have used 2 18 inch pellet hoppers. Actually just looked at one in person the other day. I was at feldmans farm store. It was about 5 feet long and about 20 something dia. Hoppers were mounted from the front on that one.
Thanks guys, I also emailed Dennis at Smoke Daddy he said what I figured one would work for just smoking but would need two for using it as a grill. He gave me his number to call for any help also.
After cutting the door in the tank I thought to keep the cost down I would put a removable divider in it and use half as a grill and remove the divide and then have the whole thing for a smoker instead of having a 72" grill that would never get full use. Any thoughts on this idea.
Here are some pics of the build I am working on. The divider has been removed and will be building a different one. The grate bracket in mounted and the hopper mount tacked in place. Still have to order the pellet pro hopper hopefully in the next day or two.

The doors mounted grates done removable divider for 34 inch grill or 60 inch smoker. Need to put seal trim around doors and then I will be ready to burn off paint. Still need to get the material for the drip trays Pellet pro hopper will be here Tuesday wont be long before smoke starts to roll.
