Sorry I missed all the comments guys...mine is welded out completely inside and out...anywhere I passed through the wall is also boxed in so nothing can get to the insulation...if you need any dimensions still just let me know!
I had intentions of putting the 18" in this one but Frank was out of stock at the time and I wasn't waiting! I have no issues with the 12" though, I just assumed I needed the burn pot to be centered, I'm sure you can add some size to the cook chamber as long as it's well insulated, I can't recall what the BTU rating is on these drives but they can handle a fairly large chamber...mine has no issues running up to 400.
We are looking to build a new pellet smoker and wondering about how many cubic inches an 18" auger vs a 12" auger will smoke or maybe another way to ask would be how many square inches of racks would be fed off of each size. Thank you for your help and we apologize as we are new to this.
I didn't use any plans on it just kinda figured up what I wanted and went from there. If I was to do it over again I would definitely go with a square tubing (1.5-2") over the rectangle just to make things a bit easier. I'll try to give ya what pics I've got. I think the angle of the drip pan has changed since that pic...I had to bring it up to clear the heat deflector over the burn pot.
5 years in a commercial setting has been pretty hard on this ol build. A recent grease fire caused quite a bit of warping and caused the hinges to fail. Good news is that with the new hinges she will be back in action.
