Hello from Holland

Post by K.Smit_NL » August 2nd, 2020, 5:16 am

Hello to all the members of this forum :-h

I am from the Netherlands and only 22 years old, but that doesn't mean I can't cook!

I am new to the world of barbecue and specially to the section of smoking meat. I am proud to say that i am currently waiting for my draftmasterkit to be delivered to me from the other side of the world :-ss

Okey, might have lied a bit, I have grilled some Paddy's on a Weber before but not the good and big stuff.

Well because I am new I would like to kick this off with a question!
Does any of you have any tips on how I can adjust the UDS so I can still grill on it?

Greetings,
Your new and enthusiastic member!

Welcome!

On that UDS......could you just build a second grate below your main one and put charcoal on it.....kinda like a Weber kettle.

Welcome to the boards. Awesome you have an interest in cooking.

People have been using barrels to make grills out of for years. I might suggest you obtain a second barrel and design what you want.

@towtruck, have been looking at that option since I ordered. Just not sure if the paint job wil hold up.

@dirtytires, might do that... After all once I constructed my first I assume the building addiction will kick in.

Just put your grate on top of your charcoal basket.

I lift my fire basket up out of the heat shield and give it a quarter turn so it sets on top of it and don't use the baffle plate. It makes for a perfect grill just like that.

Welcome.
