Calculator help

Post by Weldun » May 25th, 2018, 9:39 pm

When using the calculator I enter cook chamber shape and size but get no recommended fire box size etc. I'm sure it's operator error but not sure where I'm goofing up at.

You'll have to enter all of you dimensions one at a time and adjust them until they are near the percentage that you are going for. Start by entering the volume of the CC since you know that and then enter some rough dimensions for your FB and it'll tell you if it's too big or too small and you go from there. If this doesn't help you, I'll be glad to help you work it out if you want.

I tried filling in all the blanks and got no recommended sizes, I'm using an iPad so maybe that's why. I'm not building anything at the moment was just checking out the calculator to see how it worked.

After you entered your dimensions, did you scroll down to the bottom of the page ? That's where all of the info is located on the new style calculator.

You have to enter the dimensions of your FB, chimney and intake sizes on the first photo and then it'll tell you how close to the recommended size that you are. For instance you said CC was 24 X 48 and then you enter the FB as 24 X 24 X 24 and you scroll down bottom and it would say that your FB is 190% of the recommended size. So you would go back to the FB dimensions up top and play with those numbers until you get in the 100%-115% range. If you enter the FB as 20 X 20 X 20 and hit done ,when you scroll back down it would say the FB is 110% of the recommended size. It allows you to figure out what sizes work best for you rather than just say it must be this size because we all know that doesn't always work out in the real world.

I was just checking it out, I'm not currently building anything I just was messing around with it because
I noticed it was different than it used to be but couldn't get the new version to give me any recommended sizes for anything even when I plugged in various dimensions for everything.
