My 250 rf cooker and trailer build

Post by Stewart » February 2nd, 2016, 4:54 pm

First off my name is Jon Stewart i live in New York State almost on the canadian border. I was recently retired from my job due to a work related injury. That being said ive been bored and needed a project lol. I like to cook and tinker so it just seemed like this was to be my stress reliever. As of last night the propane tank was cut and burned off this morning. I have started taking pics of all stages and goodies ive purchased for this and will show them. Ive lurked this site a long time gaining knowledge from all your posts and I'll try to make you all proud lol.

Well as soon as i can figure out the picture posting here ill show you my progress. While i was grinding today i had an idea wanted to run it by you guys. Right now im using a single large door as we want to cook whole hogs but im thinking of cutting in two normal doors on the back side like "gull wings " lol. Kind of like a duel purpose cooker. Has anyone ever done this? What do you think?

General rule of thumb is to cut the top of the door 1" past center...which would make it tough to open up from both sides.

But if you make it square doors opening like cabinets, it would open a lot of new opportunities for you

No just square doors like the ones that Paul and Tyler build.

At a stand still at the moment waiting on materials. I bought fb dampeners and bullet hinges from smoker builder and man are they nice. Those parts alone are going to same me a lot of time. I ordered 3" Tru temp glo in the dark gauges and a fry cutter from lem. 2 new ss King kooker boil/fryer units. This party on a trailer is taking shape lol.

Another idea on the doors, you could still can them in half. Open one of you need to or both for the big pig. I think that would be easier and more heat efficient than putting doors on both sides.

By the way, love the piggies artwork on the tank.
