small metal brake

Post by Tom_Heath » December 5th, 2014, 1:48 am

Here are some pics of a bender that I put together some time back. Mine is only 22 inch wide but I can bend 16 ga full width. And I have bent 1/4 x 2 strap

This last one is a slideshow for the folder of all the pics.

I have looked high and low for a plan to build a brake capable of about 30" or a little more. This is fantastic and I too thought maybe I'd seen it. Have you posted this online before.

Either way, I have no knowledge of how these are built or otherwise. I have seen detailed plans for one that can bend 22 gauge aluminum. I don't think the smoker would be a good match for 22 gauge aluminum. My problem is I need to be spoon fed how to do this. But none of that has ever stopped me from trying anything.

Frank....here's another set of step by step plans you can draw up! ... Not much out there, I've looked. Clearly, I like your work :kewl:

Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life

Thanks PD, that's gonna work just fine in my shop.

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Just a few more pics. No plans but I think I have posted on millerwelds fourm and hobart fourms. I just built it as I went with scraps I had. Important part is the pivot point. No mill or anything fancy here. Built the pivot then squared the two bend surfaces.
