New member with questions-need your input!

Post by HOLYSMOKESBBQ » May 11th, 2018, 11:47 am

Hello everyone out there in Smokeville! I'm trying to modify my 42" Landman Smoker/Grill with the fire box on the left side. It's about 8 years old & been a great smoker! But since I like using real wood I don't want to go to strictly pellets. So I thought on my left side I'd add a hopper!
I'm having the only local welding shop add steel on the outside of firebox & bottom & lower half of grill side not the lid. Any thoughts on that?

Also want to add a smoke stack of some sort where can I buy a prefab one that will attach on the back side of grill & is one enough? I don't like the cheesy firebox lower vent also one on grill left end! What can I do about that issue? Thanks ahead of time for anyone's input. Holy Smoke's Tata!

CORRECTION II would be possibly adding a hopper on right side! Sorry

First things first.

Welcome to the crew!!!

I pulled up a couple pictures of that sorta cooker and I couldn't see both ends. Only the FB end was showing but it looks like there is something on the other end. Is there a exhaust stack over there?

Maybe you could post some pictures of yours and a sketch of your plan, this would be helpful.

I have to tell you, personally I would consider building a new rig just the way I wanted it, before putting much money in an 8 year old cooker. But that doesn't mean anything really.

Welcome to the crew.

Learning generally boils down to "Repetition or the avoidance of pain", some people learn by doing, some by watching and some just have to pee on the electric fence.
