New guy here that lives by Kansas City, MO

Postby DirtyDaveMO » December 19th, 2012, 5:13 pm

I am a new guy here and plan on building my first smoker. I had a generic off-set smoker first and then bought an electric vertical and added a PID temp controller to it. The off-set was hard to control temp and ate fuel. The electric is easy to control temp but the smoke is almost non-existent. I have talked to some friends about building one and one of them talked about a gravity feed one so I searched the internet for "Gravity Feed Smoker" and got exactly what I was looking for when Smoker Tom's build came up. I have talked to Tom a couple of times and he was great and very helpful. My wife asked what I wanted for Christmas and I said a gift certificate to a Metal Supply shop. She loves my smoking and helps me slice, weigh it and then vacuum pack it. So I plan on starting my build and will post pictures but I am sure they will not be anywhere as good as Smoker Tom's.

Thanks for making such a good forum to get great knowledge from, Dave

Thanks for the welcome guys. We had a holiday party at work today that I smoked the meat for and they all said it was great but I was thinking that next year it will be much better with the help of you guys.

Tom: I will give you a call tomorrow. I am sure you are busy now with the weather.

Thanks, Dave

No problem dave, you might oughtta text me first, I have my calls rolling over to the guy I work with since I am off today. Either way, its not gonna kill him if he gets the call. I try to watch the calls and catch the ones that are for me personal but sometimes I miss one. I will have foward off at about 5 or 6 tonight when the work calls die down.
