Reverse flow smoker size

Post by Skinnyboys » June 17th, 2018, 5:30 am

I am making my second build out of a 275 gal oil tank , my question is will i have enough heat at the far end using a reverse flow ? I know just cranking up the fb more but then you have a really hot spot at fb end . Need some ideas on this. I was thinking of a double baffle at fb end , ie. A baffle horizontal across inside of throat just above center but below tuning plates about 3 inches extending about 2 ft out . Thoughts or input ??

Welcome aboard! There are quite a few smokers on the site that are built from 275 oval tanks and they all work great. There's no need to change anything design wise from a normal RF. You can use the search bar in the RF section and check out the 275 builds. I believe that there's a set of plans on smokerplans.net for the 275 tank if you want to take out all of the guess work and the plans come with tech support.

Welcome to the crew.
