2 Build - Dual Pits 2' x 6' CC and 2' x 2' FB

Postby matt08titan » February 18th, 2017, 8:28 am

I ended up selling my last trailer pit. I just picked up 3 qty 6'x24"x1/2" steel pipes and a new tandem axle trailer 6x12. I had a lot of trouble with my last pit, so I plan on taking my time posting alot of pictures and asking alot of questions as I progress on this new one.

1/2" pipe!
That is a family hand me down. Once they get hot you can open the door and close it and the temperature won't even budge

Making Progress, hope to be finished in 3-4 weeks.

Outstanding List-
-Replace hinges with bullet hinges , weight of doors on hinges is causing alignment issues (doors slightly sprung 1/2" thick 80lbs each)
-insulate both fire boxes
-build doors for fire boxes
-paint
-an out remaining space on trailerImageImageImageImageImage

Nice work, is this the clean out door? Are you going to make a door on the top of the FB? It just seems like a small opening is why I asked.

Your numbers for the FB are right on 100% and your intake is a little larger but that's fine. I think he was referring to the overall size of the door, it looks a little bit tight.

I had a FB similar to yours and it loaded from the top.

Top view

You can see the fire grate and the fire basket, I really like baskets cause they keep the wood stacked and burning.

Clean out door

Possible grill if so inclined

This the door

These are just options and me explaining why I asked the question. You sure don't need to do it this way.
