Thermometer questions

Post by rasmateo » November 15th, 2013, 8:15 pm

Hey guys, my reverse flow smoker is just about done, putting the finishing touches on it. I have a tru tell thermo, but I'm not sure if there is a way to mount it so it looks flush. Is there a piece of hardware that allows it to mount on a cylindrical cooker? It seems to me it might look funny sticking out without a piece of hardware to make it look flush. I may send it back and just get a digital. Any suggestions on digitals? Do I just put the digital in the cook chamber on a piece of wood or drill a small hole for the probe?

I really like my tru tells on my smoker. They are not flush but I have a 1/2" coupling welded to the doors with a hoodie over them. 4" pipe cut in half and rounded off. Protects them mishaps.

I've heard Gizmo call the cover over it an eyebrow, I like the look and I think that is the same thing Smurf called an hoodie.

Maverick ET-732 is the digital I use and would recommend to anyone.
