Re: Im in need of a good thermometer dual prob
My son is an Android user. I gave him the et733 with the smoker but I might look at what's out there in March and get another. My pid controller for the gravity feed is almost finished...looks good so far. Should turn on the blower when needed
When we lived in Vermont, in 1976, I just walked into the drugstore and bought a Model 19 Smith & Wesson revolver with my VT drivers license. That was my first. Still have it. My son has a great collection and the one I like the most is called The Judge. Uses 410 shotgun shells in a revolver style weapon. Hard to miss SOMETHING when that one fires.

I'm kinda diggin the igrill2 the more I look at what's out there and Puff it's hard to beat a Judge for home protection. My grandma has had a 45/410 over and under for years that she keeps in her house coat pocket.

I had not heard of it before but the second he showed me his, I thought the exact same thing.. Give grandma a big hug. Mine lived to be 99 and I miss her immensely. Her old school knowledge enlightened me on many occasions and her funny ways proved she was out to impress no one. Had a lot of class but an even better style of doing things. We had loads of fun

Yeah I'm kinda of a gun junkie...I have the Smith and Wesson version of the judge. Its called the Governor. It's 6 shot revolver that does 410, .45 long colt, and .45 ACP. Its my second favorite pistol.Puff wrote:My son is an Android user. I gave him the et733 with the smoker but I might look at what's out there in March and get another. I used the iGrill2 today just to cook some big slabs of ribeye on the grill. It kept Bluetooth connection from my grill to the very back of my yard, which is 170'. Never lost connection once. I will say though, I left the app running when I turned the unit off. It did not alert me to let me know connection was lost. I'm sure that can be corrected in an app update though. I'll mention it in my review on Google Play and see if they reply to it.

That's good to know that there is a solid Bluetooth connection. I abandoned Bluetooth a few yrs back when it was reliably inconsistent.. When I would try to depend on it...nothing. Wi-fi has been much better for me and there are some very nice controllers that use wifi with some really great apps for smokers but geez, they're not cheap.
Amazon is out of stock until March on the iGrill2

Re: Im in need of a good thermometer dual prob
I know I'm getting a little overzealous with this, but I just did a little side by side comparison with the iGrill2 and the ET-732. I stuck a probe from each thermometer into my bedroom HVAC vent. I have the fireplace burning, so the heat isn't running. Just the fan is running on low circulating the air in the house. I left them both in there together for about 5 minutes before I snapped this pic. I have noticed that my food is getting a little overdone with the ET-732. This side by side comparison might be my answer.

Re: Im in need of a good thermometer dual prob
Lol. I've only had it since Christmas morning, and I have to say, I'm really impressed with it. My wife told me that she got it straight from the company. She said the guy told her that they were selling them faster than they could make them. She showed me an email conversation with someone there. They actually ran out of boxes and had to ship the ambient probe in a USPS bubble wrap envelope. They were really helpful, because she didn't know what she was buying. I just told her I'd like one for Christmas. She got her diamond earrings and necklace and I got this. Oh, and a wood moisture meter from Lowe's. Lol. I think I got the better end of the deal.

So, if I might ask, are you using the wood moisture meter for smoking or some other distraction from things like, woodworking.

Re: Im in need of a good thermometer dual prob
I will use it for smoking, yes. I tested it out yesterday and today for the fireplace. Apparently between 15-19% moisture is the magic number for burning. I picked up a few pieces today that I thought would be good, but read 30 something and 49%. Threw those back on the pile.

Stick em both in boiling water (212 F) and see which is correct.

It seems if I wait another week before I decide someone will have invented a way for the signal from the device to be beamed straight into my brain.

Re: Im in need of a good thermometer dual prob
Lmao. I did the boiling water test a little bit ago. I put them both in the middle of the pot and kept them from touching the bottom. I used hot water from the tap and turned the burner on high, then once it got to a boil, I backed it down to hold that temp. The iGrill2 was very consistent and refreshes every second. The ET-732 was not very consistent and refreshes about every 6-7 seconds. Once at a boil, the iGrill2 bounced back and forth between 211-212°. The Maverick just bounced all around. I'm starting to wonder if the Maverick has a bad probe.

I'm using the iGrill2 right now to cook deer jerky. A feature I just noticed about it is the units screen turns off when you walk away from it. When your connected phone gets about 10' away, the screen turns back on. Pretty cool battery saving feature if you ask me.

Lol. I actually just found the connection issue everyone's been having. But, I found the remedy. You have to go to your Bluetooth settings and make sure it never automatically disconnects. I bet everyone that's having that issue never looked for the setting to fix it.
