Maverick! I think it is ET73
I'm sure somebody will be along to give you the model number.
I have three of these and love em!

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Re: Im in need of a good thermometer dual prob
I have 3 of the 73's - had them for 3 years and I love them. They're all dual probe but if you want to probe 2 pieces of food then make sure to order an extra food probe (rec. high-temp one because it has a longer lead) because the unit only comes with one food and one pit probe.
HOWEVER....
I just bought Eli the new 732 (grabber's link above) because it fixed 3 problems the 73 had. They weren't problems - really just annoyances ....
The power switch is now outside and easy to get to instead of buried inside the battery compartment on the transmitter.
The published range went from 100 to 300 feet with the addition of an antenna - I'm hoping to make it all the way into my kitchen now with this new one.
Also the probes are more robust I think - something about not burning out as easily - I think.
Either one will treat you right and make liars out of your "T"-gauges and your kitchen stove

Re: Im in need of a good thermometer dual prob
Sorry to bump an old thread, but....
So I am looking on updating my wireless thermo as it has no settings for BBQ temp. I haven't done much research, although I did find this one that looked promising:
http://www.bbqequipmentstore.com/Maveri ... ET-733.htm
THEN I searched here before posting, and found this thread. It seems to just be the newer model of the one linked here. If so my question is this:
How does the grill probe work? I currently only have one probe, so I put it in the meat that seems to be in the hotter side of my grill, but is there an option for a meter that does 2 food probes and 1 grill?
Lastly, Tom do you sell these?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: Im in need of a good thermometer dual prob
Pennywise,
that maverick 733 is a staple of the smoking community. Six months ago I was also looking for a dual probe thermometer. Having such widespread popularity, I ordered the 733. My initial reaction to it was nothing exciting. In fact I was a little disappointed that there was a 2 to 3° variable between probes until I learn that at temperature that is quite an accomplishment.
I have now had my ET-733 since June and I don't believe I could actually have survived without it. Most of my smoking is ribs so I used the probes on each end of my smoker on a high shelf and a low shelf to measure cook chamber temperatures. It provides me with an accurate reading. I did use a meat probe for a pork butt and a turkey and again right on target.
I think the biggest complaint I might have is that the probes that come with the unit for my purpose are too short so I ordered the 6 foot replacement probes my smoker is 52 inches wide which places the sending unit a little too close for comfort to the heated chamber.
If I needed to buy another one, I likely would do so however I have noticed because of the gravity feed smoker, several types of controllers and wireless devices for use with iPhone, iPad, or Wi-Fi from your computer. If you are looking for a comfortable way to observe your smokers activities while you are not directly monitoring it, it works great.
I am currently assembling a PID controller for the gravity feed and seeing how the temperature probes on it can be so wide ranged, I may experiment a little more with that type of system.
I assume you would be quite happy if your goal is to monitor your temperatures from a distance. I have been over 100 feet away with reliable signal. I did find that trying to establish settings I always need to go back to the instruction sheet. It does not appear to be intuitive the way my mind perceives it.
Overall I think it is a very excellent unit

Thanks Puff!
It just topped my Xmas wish list. I noticed they're selling it for $99 with the 6 footers, as I would want that for when my RF is done.

I have the ET-732. Used it for 3 years now. Excellent thermometer. I need more probes though. I put the iGrill2 on my Christmas list for the ole lady to buy me. That's 4 probes and bluetooths to your smartphone with an app. Shows graphs and has temp min and max alarms. Does all kinds of other cool stuff too. Only downfall is the range is less than the Maverick.

I may or may not have accidentally seen an email from iDevices to my wife in regards to a delivery confirmation. Lol. I might be giving you my thoughts on the iGrill2 soon after Christmas. I'll keep you informed.

Re: Im in need of a good thermometer dual prob
I asked for it, but god knows no one listens to me in my house. For instance:
My man cave has been an on-going project for years. At this point, I've finished the area, floored it, painted it, added a decent drinking supply area, a round table perfect for cards, all lay-Z-boy chocolate leather furniture, and of course the mandatory 60 inch plasma with gaming systems, etc. I have been getting autographed photos of Chiefs players, movie posters, tin signs, and concert posters for gifts for the past 5 years. I planned on doing the walls in them (ala 54th street style) and completing my project.
This brings me to me franticly stopping my wife from telling my mother-in-law I wanted Spider-man movie posters....I politely told her it was a man cave...not a freaking place for a 13 yr old slumber party. I told her a Dogma movie poster, or even Star Wars would be preferable.
What does my wife come home with last night? a 36X50 painting of Iron Man. A Incredible Hulk comic cover, a Spider man comic cover, a Batman comic cover, and a Star Wars. GAH!
I put them up anyway. Ive been defeated.
